Concept Design for my DVD Inlay - Basic Structures Laid Out

Following on from my research into DVD cases and how the games artwork in the two series have looked like up till now I have settled on the below design which I mocked up quickly in Paint (not even slightly to scale)!

I will be seeing if it's possible to somehow composite the two "iconic" images together to form the front cover and possibly wrap round to the back. I think the main issue will be that Duke's artwork is done from quite a close range and Doom's is from further away. This may mean that I need to try to resize Duke and put him into the Doom image to try and get them both the same size. I may not get this to work so my alternative design was my initial concept of having both of the protagonists faces (or in the case of Doom guy his helmet) facing each other. The issue with this is finding a high enough resolution image of Doom's helmet and Duke's face from a side on perspective. These may not exist and I don't think I can create them from scratch so again, this may not be possible to do in a way that looks good enough for me to be happy with.

If both are failures I may just stick to putting on e image on the front and meld it into the one on the back. I can then label each one as the Doom Edition (for the one with the Doom Front Cover) and the Duke Edition (for the one with the Duke cover). I'll just decide which looks better and display that one for the finished design with the concept design of the other version.

I also still need to create the screenshots which should just be two Doom screenshots and two Duke screenshots with the HUD & guns transposed from one to the other. I expect to have 2 Doom backgrounds with 2 Duke guns and one Duke background with a Doom gun (four pictures in total).

I will cut the Doom & Duke Nukem logo's out from the original box art. The come up with some kind of stylised Vs using the Photoshop Text options. I will also cut and past an 18 BBFC certificate and one with suitable warnings for the back cover.

I already have the Space Marine & kittens so it will just be a job of creating an oval clipping mask and putting them inside it with some form of border to segregate them from the main background.

I will try to create my own system requirements and write my own legal info section. The company  logo's I will get from other copies of dvd inlays by Gearbox & ID Software.

I should also put a PC Games bit on the spine to make the platform more obvious.

I think my next task now will be trying to write and finalise all the descriptive text on the back of the inlay.
