Positioning the Main Image on the Front Cover and adding the Logo's

Having finished the main image (or at least a first draft of it) I now had to try and fit it onto the DVD template.

This was relatively straight forward and just meant I had to have both images open in Photoshop and then drag the main image into the one that had the DVD template. It turned out that may main image was a little too small so I had to use the transform controls to increase the size so it filled the front cover portion all the way up to the bleed edge.

It looked like this once this had been done.

Now I had to work on adding the iconic Doom and Duke Nukem Logo's onto the cover.

I had already found the two images of logo's I wanted from the internet so it was a case of cutting these out again using the magnetic lasso tool for the most part and then the polygonal tool with the subtract from selection to get rid of any gaps - specifically those in the space in between the bars of the E's. I also has to use the quick selection tool to remove the negative space between the K's and the E's.

I was then able to add and resize these to the template so that both were roughly the same size and within the safety lines of the template plus leaving some room for a VS logo I will have to add in myself.

The template now looks like this.

That's it for this blog. Next I will look into creating the back and spine of the case. Will be trying a few things to see what works and looks good since my image terminates from the front of the case very abruptly and realistically I can't carry it on over to the rear.

I also need to create the images for my power armour and kittens to go on the front.
